fantastic

Fantastic stuff, was looking for a game like this for awhile. Theres plenty of shoot-em-up games with spaceships and upgrades, but few that give you freedom and a bit of variance to the ability's and missions.
This game keeps doing unexpected things, which is great.

My only problem is I'm stuck with planting the bombs :-/ When I got my clock on and have to place the bombs in the Hyperspace/Radition area I lose my shields far too quick. (and with the Armour turned on, they just spot me there straight away).
Still, I'll keep trying because the game is great.

rytherix responds:

Glad you enjoyed the game! Sorry for the last mission error. I am working on it!

I was enjoy it quite a bit, but now it gets stuck

...on the "About" screen.

every time a load, even trying in a different browser. After asking me for if I want sound it jumps instantly to the ABOUT page, and clicking back does nothing :(
I think I was on lvl6-7, having replayed a lot of them.

From what I played so far it seemed like a good game, lotsof upgrades, and the speed challange idea was good too.
Only major change Id make was having some non-liner levels? Probably wouldnt work on your engine, but it would be nice to be able to freely explore in 2d occasionally rather then purely being vertical shotting all the time.
Purhapes for a sequal you could make it a full space-ship-upgrade-based-rpg thingy :P

Kidgamez responds:

Im not sure why this happens, but you would need to clear your flash saved data to continue playing.. are you using flash player 10?

Ill keep that in mind for my next game.

Quite nicely done

Taught me a few life paturns I didnt know before too.

I think possible I prefer the "war" style take on games of life rather then this problem solving type. I think there was an old windows 3.1 or 95 game like that.

Still, good work :)

squidsquid responds:

Thanks, yeah I originally had the idea of a "war" style version, I didn't know that it had been done before. I went with this puzzle version because it seemed like a simpler approach, especially for people who hadn't seen the Game of Life before.

got stuck

how do I burn rope? cant find rope and what burn with?
Anyway got a walkthough?

Nice :)

Nice work, I like the abstract style.
Allthough maybe it needs to go a little further.

Gameplay is simple but effective.
And nice music too.
(at first it reminded me of the music too an old Commadore game called "Exorcist"...that had really catchy music)

varstudios responds:

Glad you liked it, and yea, I like the music too =). Not sure what you mean by taking the abstract style further.. more abstract?

Great, only one problem

This really is a great game, it works well, and looks very refined.

But maybe an option for turning the sound off?

Because Macromedia in their infinite wisdom dont have a "sound off" command on the flash menus.
Some of us like to watch stuff (best videos . org, google video ect) at the same time as playing ;)

BoMToons responds:

Hmm, yeah, I do have a BG music off button for in the game levels, but not an overall off button. Sorry to interrupt your video viewing with sounds of troops splatting ;)

What do you expect? Good lines from good shows...

Fox messed up futurama period.
You only have to look at the "real seasons" vs "seasons according to fox" to see how bad it was.

Heck, Im glade I live in the UK.
We got all the nice DVD box-sets last year :p

As for it not-technicaly being canceled, thats kinda true. Allthough the last viewer is dump to rate you down because of that.
It was "not renewed". (Unlike, say, Farscape, which was contracted for a 5th season and then that was canceled).

Still, little difference really.
If its not showen, its not showen. The technicalities dont mater.

Btw, just to let you know Family Guy *IS* comeing back, thanks to the strong DVD sales.
Futurama could be the same, so go forth and buy DVDs :D

Titan12436 responds:

Hehe yeah, I already knew that, I put it in now :P

great

Excelent work, the whole detail and all the secrets are great. (especial #1 :p)
Really nice style too, i love the "freeform" do anything kinda play.

You should expand that.
Purhapes you could do some automatic record of numbers or an inventory system for the next one.

JeremyLokken responds:

I expanded into making it freeform style. I liked that, especially with the officer's quarters. I was thinking about an inventory system when making this one, but it got too complex for my little programming brain to handle :)

neat

actualy thats pretty neat, as it produced "real-ish" words.
Did you code to force vowels in certain positions? (else you would get stuff like ZXCK,DTTY ect)

Retox responds:

Yes, I created a bunch of different possiblity sets. A represents a random vowel and B represents and random consanant. They I would order it like : ABBA or BABA or BAABA etc. otherwise yes you'd be reading stuff like TRRTR or PTQXZ. Also, no matter what, a U follows every Q. You can imagine how long it took for an idiot like me to program all this using AS.

simple but fun

Pretty good, would be much better if the camera tracked him as he is chucked.
(so you see him flying past cloads, then the atmosphere then space).

TheBoob responds:

i was thinking about doing that, but couldn't quite figure out what the best way to do it was, but since you (and someone else) think its a good idea i might rack my brain for a good idea, thanx

Im not expert in flash, but see my avatar? I make stuff like that. :)Also CGI animations and graphics.
